Dear friends and strangers,

Welcome! Slippery People is the creative outlet of me, San Francisco Bay Area-based artist, Pete Davies. I’m inspired by a wide variety of music and other art forms. What gets me fired up is synthesizing disparate influences to create something that feels fresh and adventurous. My desire is to enjoy both the process of creating, along with the end product itself. I also have the less insulated desire to connect with others in the creation of a more communal experience, whether it be with other musicians or with an audience.

In a desire to remove myself from social media, while still wanting to stay connected to those who wish to share in creative conversation, I’m taking a step (backwards?) towards having this here, a more traditional website. I hope to share things that truly matter and feel unique to me. The output won’t be scheduled, though I do hope to keep productive creatively. It will absolutely include music I’ve created (along and with others), but may also include curated playlists, visual art, and writings about my life and the things that I’m passionate about (which, let’s be honest, is often music).

Since I still crave, and think it’s hugely important, to keep a dialogue with creatives and listeners alike, feel free to let me know what you enjoy or would like to see as we go on this journey called life (“Electric word, life /
It means forever and that's a mighty long time” - Prince). I’m curious how best to connect with folks on this platform, but am more interested in a slower type of art, removed from the constant need (?) to create content as opposed to a more gratifying type of output that satisfies myself along with those with ears to hear. That being said, the sloppiness of the creative process interests me as well. I don’t subscribe to the idea that the creative process should be mysterious; but I also want my art to lead, rather than any perceived need to create content.

Thanks for tuning in!

Cheers,

Pete (Slippery People)
